When one speaks of Ellé, one immediately thinks of salmon, and big salmon. In fact, in the past, it was the river which produced the biggest salmons of Brittany. During the 1960s, during the months of February –March, the average weight of the salmons was that of 16 pounds. Those weighing more than twenty pounds were not rare. The biggest salmon caught on the line was captured in 1938 by M. Flégeo of Lanvénégen, it weighed 29 pounds. By the use of the insect, B. Guyonvarc'h caught a fish of 28 pounds. At that time, the fish of eight pounds were rare in the beginning of the season, now it is sensibly the average weight of fish in spring.
